Networker’s Link Building Method

We went over the basic fundamentals of outreach: How to ask someone for a link and get it just by asking. It’s an art form really that touches on psychology and social connection.

If you thought that method was a lot of work, you’re going to love this method.

I call it the Lazy Networker’s Link Building Method because we’re doing what we said we “shouldn’t” do in the last lesson.

We’re going to blast generic emails to webmasters and tell them they should be linking to us.

Don’t get turned off just yet. I’ll go over how it works, and how to do it correctly.

How to get links without personalization

Note: This method is a lot less effective than the last one. But you’re able to send more emails out quickly. Although your success rate will be lower, you’ll still be able to get a lot of good links if you can send at scale.

While adding personalization to your link outreach emails results in a lot higher success rate, sometimes I get lazy. And when I do, I like to link build with this method instead.

Here, you’re just emailing as many websites as you can with a GENERIC email that isn’t specific to any one site.

Here’s what it looks like:

Subject: I think you are missing a link

Hey [insert their name],

I noticed you shared a really helpful list of resources on this page: [Their URL of the resource page]

I just wanted to reach out and thank you for putting this together, and maybe make a recommendation for an additional resource I personally found helpful: [Your page’s URL]

Feel free to check it out and maybe add it to your list for others as well.

Hope youʼre having a lovely day! Keep up the good work, I really enjoy [insert their site name].

Sincerely,

[your name]

And that’s it. You don’t need to mention it’s your site, and you don’t need to write an essay on why it’s great.

A small percentage of them will check it out and add in the link. If they don’t add it in right away, they’ll still be aware of the site and possibly link to you in the future (or share).

Also, keep in mind that we’re pretending NOT to be the site owner for this link building angle.

I’ll keep this pasted into a separate notepad and just copy and paste it in every time I have a new site to contact.

All you have to do is change the person’s name, and their site name and send the exact same email.

Find “resource” pages

For this kind of link building, find resource pages where there is a list of “helpful links.”

The easiest way to do this is to just search Google for: [yourniche/keyword] resources.

It will bring back only results that are resource pages. That makes it so much easier since all they have to do is add your site to the list.

More resources for resource pages

Resource pages are an important tool for link builders.

Let’s move onto the next post. I have a huge list of search commands that bring back resource pages. I also dive into my favorite type of link building that uses these resource pages.
